mate i feel it too. my parents are 84. i am 40. they will never be able to come to oz as they are quite frail and in all likelyhood we won't earn enough to shoot over on a regular basis...... tough indeed

They know it's the right thing for YOU, but it's not the right thing for THEM. They are thinking of themselves when they say it's the wrong thing to do. I haven't even dared tell one of my sisters about our plans yet as I know she will go ballistic, even though we live 250 miles apart and only see each other once or twice a year. My emigrating will have little effect on her, but I just know she'll be angry as hell anyway. A lot of people are just like that.

You only get one shot at life. I'm about halfway through mine and want to make the second half better than the first. I also want to give my family a better life. Is that something to feel guilty about ? I think not.

I've managed to suffer less of the emotional blackmail by paying for my family to fly out for a few weeks - told them it was to help us get settled. Now they can't wait for us to go as they know are coming (albeit for a short while) too. Also, we only have to pay for two family members so that makes it an easier option

Also, we have set them up with web cams and msn and Skype.

And as you said, you only have one life so live it!
