Short term furnished accomodation
Hi
So, have decided to take the budget the company offer and rent something ourselves for about 5 weeks on arrival. Any hints where to start looking? need 3 beds furnished (or sleeps 5), easy walk to a station to get to city.
East (NE, SE) of city.
Thanks

You could look for a serviced apartment.
We stayed here for about 6 weeks:-

It was fine and suited our needs, but that was 13 years ago so I can't promise what it might be like now!! It was handy for trams into the city, walking distance to Prahran Market. Quest have a number of properties in various Melbourne suburbs, or there are other serviced apartment companies also operating in Melbourne that might be worth a try.

For 5 weeks, you are best to try a furnished holiday apartment, but it won't be that cheap- ours in Manly (Sydney) cost $1000 pw for a 2 bedder in 2008, in winter. For the convenience and ability to extend it by 2 weeks until we could move, it was good. You might find cheaper stuff away from the touristy bits, though we enjoyed being close to the beach and only a ferry ride from OH's work, and used it as a time to do all the touristy stuff before the real task of everyday living got in the way. It was also easy enough to organise from the UK.
