What do people think to a quote of £3590.00 for a 20 ft sole reef container from Nottingham - Melbourne. This includes all fees and unpacking both sides.
No other quotes at present, however friends have used Crown and rate them highly. This is their opening quote have other people managed to get this reduced ?

Sounds about right, Crown is slightly on the expensive side with slightly better reputation

We have just used Crown to get our belongings over here (40ft container, sole use). Got the price reduced by telling them about the 3 other - cheaper - quotes that we'd rounded up.

However, despite all the good press they get on this site, we discovered that Crown are NOT perfect by any means. Their UK office admin side, in our experience, was very poor. The person assigned to our move kept 'forgetting' important things (like sending the required forms out to us, and sending the required shipping/customs documents to their Melbourne office) then repeatedly 'forgot' to process our payment, then totally messed it up, which caused a lot of long-distance angst, and a number of long phone calls (in which I had to get a bit firm with them) in order to get it sorted. The same person was also off-hand and quite unhelpful when I phoned them with questions while were still in the UK.

However, the UK packers were OK, and the staff in the Melbourne office are very helpful.

On balance, because of the problems we have had with their UK admin people, I would not use them again, or recommend them. This move is stressful enough without people failing to do their jobs properly and causing unecessary hassles.

You'll see from my earlier thread on shipping that the lowest 20 footer quote we've had so far is GBP3,100 from PSS. Crown wanted over £4,000.

Sounds about right. I can wholly reccommend Crown from this end at any rate. There service was fantastic and were so helpful !! You may pay a bit more but I think its worth it for piece of mind. PSS seem to have some mixed reviews on here.
