Default Shipping Question- How clean - does it have to be ??

Hi all - we are taking our tent, camping equipment etc and are in the process of cleaning it. Did anyone else take their tent and was it checked on arrival ? On the quarantine list it states that outdoor equipment should be thoroughly cleaned but how thorough is thorough ?

Hi Sara,
When they say thorough they mean thorough. You will need to check the insides of the poles just to make sure you've left no soil inside them otherwise if they find any its gonna cost a lot of money having it all cleaned in Oz. We love camping but have decided to sell everything as we couldn't possibly clean it up to how they want it, so if your taking it try to make it look like new.

Just got back from probably our last camping trip in the UK, and put the tent up in the garden and hosed it down and gave it a good going over with a yard broom. Looks clean to me. Scrubbed all the pegs with a scourer and washing up liquid and the whole thing looks like new. If that ain't good enough, well, I dunno what will be. Way too much camping gear to sell and then replace.

Good luck

Thanks for your replies - a pretty frustrating job, took most of yesterday, it looks sparkly and clean lets hope that is good enough.
Keep thinking of all those fantastic camping trips ahead in Oz.

We cleaned all our tent pegs thouroughly and then threw them away when we got here..bloody useless, you need 2 sets one for rock hard ground and the other for use near the beach or sandy soil..oh and a freaking big mallet

Erm, check and check. My tent pegs are like rock climbing pitons!!! Got caught out once, many moons ago. I also take a regular hammer with me. Those rubber things are flamin' useless!!

Not a single blade of grass or dirt. If there is, be prepared for a big cleaning bill or destruction this end!
