We are shipping from Dorset to Melb in the next couple of weeks (fingers crossed).
we had 3 quotes last year (pre price rise) from Allied P £3495, Brittania £3520 & Whites, similar. We've decided to not take a few things, therefore getting the price down, (post price rise) to £3480 with Brittania.
The company seems good, the rep was v. professional & she knows her stuff, Jenny Horner, she works out of B'mouth. I'd def recommend them.
Of course it does all depend where you are located, a national company is only as good as their local staff.

It will cost £200 to ship our double bed, or £300-400 (in oz) to buy a new one. If we sold it in the UK we'd get much less than £100 for it, so it's worth our while to ship it!

Not to mention the (in)convenience of trying to sell everything before you go.
We are hoping to complete on the house on 22nd April, & fly out on the 24th but as we haven't exchanged yet, I am reluctant to sell too much, sofa's, fridge, kids beds, all the tired old stuff we don't want to take. But how on earth we are going to do everything in the available time is absolutely beyond me. My head is going round in a spin at a rate of knots.
Oh dear , i'm scaring myself now. Why i'm on here, & not sorting, packing or chucking something is also beyond me.
sorry to sound deranged, but i'm sure lots of people will recognise the sounds

Beware of any company that claims to include al AQIS costs - although they may include the basic fee its impossible to know in advance how much AQIS will want to look at or treat, and you may find yourself with a large bill.

WOW :scared: the prices have certainly gone up since we went the first time. we had a 2oft container and it cost £1800 including marine insurance.
we went with Doree Bonners and we could not have been happier. they packed everything so nicely with only 1 breakage. and they were so helpful on the day. as you can imagine it is very stressful and they took their time to make sure they packed everything as cinveniently as poss. they then arranged for grace bros to make the delivery at the other end with no fuss.
i would deffinately recommend getting a qoute from them

We need a 40ft container apparently and have been quoted £5,700 by Excess International Movers. That sounds a lot to me? Anyone got a better deal for 40ft?

May I also suggest, that whoever you decide you use, go back to them before accepting their quotation and ask them to sharpen the pencil and they may get the job. I have had 3 quotes now, and it is so far a toss up between Crown and Whites, both willing to cut their prices to get the job!
I think I can afford to let them stew a bit longer, seeing as the house hasn't sold yet.
