Default Shipping Computer Monitors

I just want to check if anyone else has been told the same thing. I spoke to a baggage shipping company yesterday as I had a few Q's about how items are packed and handled and was advised to not take my CRT Monitor because it's likely to be broken.

Surely this isn't right?

I shipped 3 monitors of various types and 1 plasma screen which insurance co wouldn't cover.

All arrived intact.

If you have original box then that's the best way to pack it.

That's good to know! I do have the original box but not the internal packing, however I'm sure I could obtain some polystyrene or foam and reinforced cardboard to help.

Thanks!

Shipped mine and it was fine - the shippers actually provided a wooden crate for it.

Shipped all our PC monitors and t.v's. All arrived intact although the large tv arrived 2 months after the rest (shipper forgot to put it on the container).

Mine weren't in the original packaging but packed by shipper.

A wooden crate sounds good! But as I'm only using a baggage shipping service and not a container shipping they seem to only provide reinforced cardboard boxes!

Both my PC and one of my two LCD monitors got buggered up during shipping.

We're planning on air freighting our LCD monitor (as we'll need it right away) - is that likely to be any better?
