Re: Shipping
Admiring someone's spice jar, only to hand it back and wish them a safe journey probably doesn't make quite such compelling TV as confiscating a $1000 birds nest someone tried to pass off as a fascinator for their cousins wedding
But in agreement it's probably more hassle even trying than it's worth - we're certainly not going to bother trying.

It is annoying since they are ground - totally get whole coriander/cumin etc but surely even Australian soil can't revive some ground coriander!!??

Re: Shipping
We'd have to put it in the Movecube as we are travelling through SE Asia in our way to Oz and will be entering our new home with nothing but backpacks. Would you still try with a cube?

Re: Shipping
- If food is packed in the container and Customs find it, declared or undeclared, if it is on the banned list they will destroy it and bill you per item for the destruction.
- If you take food in your luggage, are asked to declare it and don't, then if they find it they may fine you, and possibly destroy the food, depending on what it is.
- If you take food in your luggage, and declare it, then if it is allowed in to the country you get to keep it, otherwise it will be confiscated, but you won't be fined as you have declared it.

Re: Shipping
If it helps visualise a 20ft container is about the size of a single garage and would work out to just over 500 cubic feet of space. There is a volume calculator over on our BE vendor forum for international removals advice if it helps.
good luck!

Thanks very much. I think we are going to stick with the cube - have some serious 'stuff' to get rid of!

Re: Shipping
If you're not using a full container there is no guarantee how long it will take to arrive (there isn't anyway because hey, stuff happens ) but they won't load the container on to the ship until it's full obviously and if you stuff goes in first, your container is waiting on other people sending stuff out in the same container. That is appalling English and I apologise but it's 12:50, I'm about to go to bed but thought I'd attempt some help.

Haha, no worries. As I say, I think we are going to stick with the movecube and just be ruthless about what we take.
Thanks again everyone.

Re: Shipping
Hi all
When I was looking on here a while back, there was a thread where someone had used the large movecube and photographed as they loaded it to show what sort of space there was. Does anyone know where it is as I can't find it now!?
Thanks.
Zoe

No idea how I managed to type 500... missing some digits there! Normally we advise 1050 cuft. Actual volume capacity is slightly higher but when you load with furniture you can't fill every gap so actual volume of furniture and boxes that fits in is more like 1050cuft.
Sorry about that!
