Default Shippers insurance or independent

I know that the shippers insurance rate is almost double what you can get with Letton Percival but does anyone know if using a different insurance company to the shippers one would make making claims harder / more difficult?

Thanks

Lucy

Having had to claim from my shippers insurance I doubt it very much.
They operated as a separate entity anyway.
I suspect most are like that.

Wish we had. We went though Pickfords, cost an arm and a leg and still load of hassel claiming. Not resolved 3 months on. Pickfords, it appears, are independant outfits who buy a franchise, so I end up having to liaise with 3 different Qld branches and the overseas one too. They have been crap from the day we signed the acceptance form.

Definitely going to go independent I think then!!!!

Does anyone know - do you just ring Letton percival and say you're shipping a container and need insurance and go from there - the web site seems aimed at companies rather than individuals.

Looks like you do just phone them

There was a thread recently where someone had to make a claim and it was sorted out without a hitch.

We've decided to use Letton for insuring our shipment but we will be storing our stuff for 2.5 months prior to shipping. Does anyone know if Letton or anyone else insure for this ? John Mason's do but only if we use their shipping insurance too, which in total is nearly £1,500 !!
