Default Shared Accomodation - Perth

Hi,
My partner and I will be wigrating at some point in the next 12 to 18 months (and once DIMIA grace us with our visas). In a bid to keep costs down in the first few months, I have been considering whether we should rent a room(s) in shared accomodation while we are settling in and getting established.

We won't have much to ship other than personal effects and really will be starting out from scratch.

Can anyone tell me whether this is common in Perth (as it is in the UK amongst young professionals) and where most people advertise - The West, for example.

Many thanks
Flying Dutchman

Shared houses are fairly common here. You can find advertisements for shared housing at:
The West Australian (Saturday's paper)
The Sunday Times
The Quokka
University notice boards
