Set-Up Costs in Perth
Hi All
Did a few calculations tonight and below are the approximate set-up costs we have had.
These figures ae based on 2 adults and are very much in the 2nd hand/budget bracket.
Our unit is partly furnished (fridge/cooker/sofa/chairs/table & two chairs). We were given nearly a full set of kitchen stuff and a telly by mates and have been lent a washing machine.
Furniture & Household $800.00
Car (incl.set up costs) $1800.00
Unit set up cost (bond, 2 weeks rent, letting fee,
stamp duty) $1050.00
Miscellaneous $350.00
(first weeks shop/driving licences/maps/ electricity,
phone and internet set-up etc )
Total $4000.00

Re: Set-Up Costs in Perth
Hi Pookin,
thanks for the info on the costs. It's invaluable stuff when we are back here in the UK.
I have been talking to the wife about renting a room / sharing a house when we visit Oz & maybe when we first move out. Did you consider this at all?
Hope it goes well.
Bye

Ours is $150 per week, 2nd floor of a 28 unit complex with shared pool and has 2 bedrooms.
Good for newbies as several bars and the beach. We lived here 1995/6 and headed straight back here.
Very expensive to buy though.

There are 1 bedroom places for as low as $90 per week in Perth with shared pool if you look around.
