Selling your house on the internet
Has anyone sold (or tried to sell) their house on the internet??
And I don't mean on Expats but using one of the specialist sites such as www.halfapercent.com
Thinking of giving it a go but not sure whether it will be a waste of time as I think most people still use estate agents...although god knows why !
Any thoughts ?

Why did you change your mind ?

Friend of mine sold his house on propertybroker.com within 3 weeks! We put ours on over easter and haven't had a single call.
Have gone with an estate agent, now. (Mind you, we haven't had a call from them yet, either!)
Steve.

Hi,
We're using both - estate agent and internet sites. There's a few that you can upload your house to for free, with photos', and then there are some that charge you from £30 to get your house added to fish4homes etc.
We've had more interest from the internet than we have from the estate agent and we have made sure that if we do find a buyer ourselves, then we don't have to pay the estate agent anything - some contracts even charge you the same percent (or sometimes higher) if you find a buyer yourself - go figure!
Anyway, for anyone that's interested, we've advertised on the following websites (can't figure out how to do hotlinks, but you can cut and paste)
www.easier.com
www.homes-uk.co.uk
www.home.co.uk
www.homesonsale.co.uk
www.homeswithoutagents.com
www.thehouseexchange.co.uk
www.houseladder.co.uk
www.estateagent.co.uk
www.propertylocator.co.uk
www.thatstheoneforme.co.uk
All these have free options, so you're not really losing anything by advertising on them......a word of warning though - set yourself up with a new email address as I've had 10 spam emails (luckily to my new email address) since joining them all two weeks ago.
Cheers
Lisa

Thanks Lisa, those are some excellent links - I've just spent 5 misn bookmarking them all
It'd be great if this kind of thing really took off and estate agents started to feel the bite. Well, I can dream can't I

No problem!
If we could all sell our houses this way it might make things move a bit quicker and we wouldn't lose such a hefty cut from the house price! Apart from the advertising in the local paper I don't think our estate agent has done anything more than what I've been able to do on these sites. We're changing estate agents next week as the one we're with doesn't even return our phone calls
Who would have thought selling a house would be such a nightmare :scared:
