Sorry, i should have said....its annually. Some subjects may be an additional fee (ranges from $20 -$100 or so) but thats normally when the kids are in years 10 and above. Lucky for us that our sons subject choices just means we pay the basic fee (its called a Resource Hire Fee). Its also a little bit cheaper for the lower years....i should have said that also.

State high school fees do vary.

In some cases they can be as high as $2000 a year (Qld Academy).

Either way - its a lot cheaper than otehr schooling options:

Catholic schools: $7-$10k a year
Highly regarded 'elite' type schools: $15-$20k a year.

Yes my daughter is going into a state high school in an excellence program next year and the fees for that are $2k per year plus all the normal costs for books, uniforms, voluntary funds, music tuition etc. Probably works about closer to $2.5-3k per year, but still $10k cheaper than the private schools she's attended previously.

Yes, we get the discount also, if paid in full before the start of the new term
I didnt realise the fees varied so much from school to school in the State system.

The next nearest High School to us charges way more than ours and they have to pay their fees by July for the following year. Rip Off!!!!! It seems each school can work to their own agenda.

The 2k we will be paying next year is for QDSE (Queensland Dance School of Excellence) program, so not compulsory, completely our choice to audition. I think the Year 11/12 QDSE program is about 7k from memory.

Yes, i knew it was extra for the Excellence programs (our lad was offered a place in the Art Excellence Program at the start of High School, but turned it down, much to my disappointment)....i was quoting just the basic resource hire fee for ours................sorry for any crossed wires.
