Depends on the school you choose and the year. Fee paying North Shore and Uppper North Shore can run around the 22K+ and then you pay for uniform, extra extra extras

You can choose a affiliated church school, usually catholic and pay anywhere between approx 3K-8K a year again North Shore.

Additional senior fees for us this year have included
Uniform - easily 1.5K starting out
Uniform includes the right bag the right shoes the right sports stuff, nothing allowed from Lowes
Voluntary Fund 500 - seem to have to pay it
Every trip going at least 1 every two weeks
Another voluntary fund - or buildings or something 400
Year 11 retreat - seems to be over 300 so far
Various individual classes have additional costs especially for HSC options like Art and domestic sciences etc (Son cost over 1000 for all the extras here for one of his options and he was at state school)

I can check the bills later but honest 3K fee turn into around $5K at end of year without including uniform.

Something to consider is that a lot of these extras are tax-deductible when you do your annual tax return.

It will depend very much on the school, and the age of the child.

The uniform for ours when in year 1 in Sydney was under $100, and maybe $40 for books. But of you go for the schools shown below, the figures will be very different...
June 19, 2010 - Australia's most expensive school, Geelong Grammar, lifted its fees 5.5 per cent to $27,700 per student, a step ahead of Sydney's Kings School which increased fees by the same amount to $24,730.

Only for some taxpayers.
The only one we can claim is the Voluntary Building Fund. (In our case $320)

None of mine have been

Looked into this carefully but certain things only apply if you are in receipt of some benefits and the ones that may be claimable have to be organised to the rules of the ATO (eg building funds - mentioned above)

Sorry if I did not make it clear my daughter in year 11 this year and they changed the whole uniform.

I know certain schools are cheaper but found when both of them went through state high school although I could subsitute from Lowes for plenty of the uniform which brought down the cost but there can be a large number of unexpected costs if you do not check things out. Hasten to add some schools are very good on costs and even have reduced fees for second child etc.
