We spent 2 weeks in Sandgate last year- not bad at all - if you have kids there is a great park at Shorncliffe - they were doing work on the Esplanade at Sandgate so that's probably good now. Its convenient for looking around the Northside of Brisbane - its mainly lots of older style cottages no big new developments (well there might be now) and it has the closest I've found to an outside High Street - we found it a good base for a short stay good links to the Gateway motorway. The cottage we stayed was a bit cold in June and the road outside a bit noisy (at 4am!) but it was a good price and the neighbours were friendly.

Sandgate is a lovely area, if we could afford to live around that area or Shorncliff and have the same standard of house we have now we would move tomorrow. It's also close to rail.

Good Luck

Thumbs up Re: sandgate

Hi Michelle

We love sandgate it's got everything, great beaches and walks, good restaurants and the full moon pub in Shorncliffe is a must.

Hey it's expensive renting there though

We spent 6 months renting in Carseldine/ brackenridge which was cheaper and just moved into our house in Deagon which is on the outskirts of Sandgate, a cheaper option for us

worth looking on the ourbrisbane.com.au site as thiswill link you into renting

we found this an invaluable help as you virtually have all the agents put the rentals on the site and you can even look at the rooms

Hope this helps

Tony and Mary and family

Sandgate is lovely! Lots of older QLD'r style houses - tad expensive though! Have you considered Redcliffe, just the other side of the bridge?

Hi Paul,
Fluffy gives a good view, Redcliffe or Rothwell are not far from Sandgate with some very nice rentals for less. I would suggest looking at Rothwell in the new developments just off Anzac Ave. 3 - 4 bedrooms, living room, dining room, spare room, double lock up garage, usually 1 bathroom but ensuite in main bed room. Dishwasher and all mod cons for around 300 - 360 a week. These are in new houses.

Do not move to Sandgate, if you have to leave for work, southbound from 7am onwards.

Just a tad up from Deagon Deviation, and the backlog of traffic at Nudgee.

Drives me insane every morning.. and starts getting WORSA from 6 am onwards.

Nice area tho
