A sailors life for me...
Anybody into sailing medium/small cats (14')?
I'm heading out to Brisbane in January and would like to take-up the sport. Does anybody know a good place to start looking...?

Try these websites Jim (or is it Jane? )
Wynnum Manly Yacht club
Moreton Bay Trailer Boat club - Sailing section
Royal Qld Yacht Squadron
All of them have lessons/schools etc & alot of very very helpful members. Check out the websites & perhaps email them with any more specific enquiries.
We have a powerboat, those things with sails are a whole new ballgame for us

I have a 16ft Hydra Catamaran... My tips would be:
1: Don't cleat off the main sheet in high winds.
2: Don't sail on a dead run.
Cats don't tack too well either. Don't try and rush the tack by slamming it through from a reach...
Feel free to ask me other questions and I can recomend places to berth the boat near here...

The Gold Coast broadwater is a great protected flat stretch to learn on and you can hire baby cats there. Just keep an eye out for seaplanes landing on you!
