All this will do is stoke inflation which has not disappeared in Australia expect increases in interest rates in 6 months or so hope those suckered into the property market by this cheap bribe are prepared for this.

The RBA WILL continue to reduce I/R's - just by not as much as seemed likely when they took the leading step of cutting them 1% last week!

That's right Hard Yards my South Australian Ocker (Bogan?) friend, it's the end of the road. There IS nowhere else to go and you know what - I love it! I say and do whatever I like - especially if it annoys Ockerkind. I'm cruising and earning BIG coin for it as well. I never break a sweat. It's all f**king good.

Been busting your ass moving boxes recently Hard Yards?

In the short term the RBA and other central banks may cut rates to stop the panic. It throws out the dominant thinking of central banks to control inflation. I wonder what the medium term outlook is now that China is unable to export deflation to the rest of the world? That deflationary effect of low price goods enabled the west to keep low interest rates.

The choice is either have a shallower downturn for longer with inflation or a shorter shock treatment which maybe irreversible.

Very true however that is the idea though to make you spend the money and bolster the economy by spending it.

That is probably why you will get it in December so you spend it on christmas presents and stuff.

I don't agree with the concept myself as certain elements of what he is doing will only make prices rise, like what is suggested in terms of first homeowners grants etc.

Plus spending all the money in tough times is only going to make us like every other country, in debt.

Oh well I am sure we will see the impact over time.

It's not, but if you post in the MBTTUK forum and you are happy with your life in Australia, expect a barrage of abuse.

I am happy with my life in Australia, but I sometimes post about things I don't like about Oz, in the Oz forum.
