My OH said to let my other brother Keith sort it out with him, but Keith is grieving badly too. We could do without this - families eh!

My Dad is coping remarkably well with keeping the bungalow clean, learnt how to use the washing machine, ironing, shopping, drove his car again this week, having pride in his appearance - it is just emotionally he has to deal with, and only time can heal that.

TJUK - my OH was also a pongo for 7 years before he joined RN 10 yrs ago as a submariner.

Thanks again
Just wondering how you were bearing up??

Thanks for your concern, I'm doing ok, still get odd days when I have a few tears, but I have learnt to let it out and get on with life. Had more bad news this weekend when my best friend's Mum died on Saturday, we grew up together and her mum was like a 2nd mum to me. Can't say I'm looking forward to the funeral later this week as it is the same place as my Mum's funeral. But I have to go for my friend as she hasn't got any family left now only her husband and son.

My OH has had his blood tests done, but should be able to have his medical in 4 weeks time for the RAN - so still going ahead with it. Hopefully going to Sydney and Perth for a holiday in September, can't book it yet until his summer leave is sorted out.
Hope everyone is still going forward with their RAN applications and all going well

There will always be setbacks it was my Mums birthday on 10 Jan and that upset me and my girls...we try to think positively and just remember what she had to say in her last few days...well it keeps us going. We are nearly there now ourselves. Visa app gone, meds & PCC's done just waiting on case officer now and "Bobs your Uncle" Hope you do continue to move forward it does get easier.....

Yes I know how your feel about your Mum's birthday, it is my mum's birthday and wedding anniversary on 9 Feb, we have decided to go out for a nice meal and for a few drinks afterwards to the club my Mum and Dad used to go to. It's weird how it affects you at different times, I was talking about my mum in work - nothing sad, when a colleague burst into tears as it brought back memories of when she lost her mum 14 years ago.

Keep in touch to let me know how your application is going, do you know yet where you will be going?

Does he know where he will be based yet? Will he have a choice? What is his specialisation? I am ex RN and went to Oz on a foreign service course a few years ago, loved it, and saw lots of Sydney which is why I have a good idea of what I am letting myself in for with my inter company transfer!
I was a WAFU by the way!!

Once an army man always an army man! My OH and his ex army mates still reminisce about the army, oh and if we watch anything military on TV, I get - ' they are not holding that gun correctly, or they would never go into a building like that I reply 'if only they had consulted you first!'
