You can normally get most main stream bars here in one of the supermarkets for a $1 (Mars,Twix, Crunchie etc) so almost identical price to the UK.

The best chocolate at present is the Lindt, Pettit Desserts the Dark Orange flavoured one. Its about $4.50 a slab though and doesnt last long :D

It's an old wive's tale.

The claim is usually made of Cadbury's chocolate, to explain the alleged difference in taste from the Cadbury's in the UK. Amusingly, it ignores the fact that other choclate manufacturers find no need to include "a load of chemicals" in their chocolate to stop it melting.

And when you come to think of it - why would they?

Well at least I am not alone and no way can I stock pile because if I buy it - it gets eaten. Just bought 2 big bars of Cadburys for $7 and yes I do live in the CBD which could be part of the reason that I am finding it seriously expensive. And no the cost does not make me eat less unfortunately. But thanks to all the chocolate lovers on the forum - made me smile when I saw all the replies.

 Maybe I should take this up instead???

Oh thank goodness for that - I'd been keeping Himself and the kids updated on this thread, and they were all for calling the whole thing off <g>

Now, onto more important things.. what are the crisps (or crisp alternatives) like?

Lynne :)

The price of chocolate in Australia has risen atrociously during the past few years. Whether this is due to inflation or simply price gouging by Cadbury's, I couldn't say.

But it does make chocolate even more of a luxury than it already was.

Which is a shame, because the range of Cadbury's chocolate Down Under is much larger than the UK's. I was shocked when I came here and found that most of my favourite flavours simply didn't exist.

No Lynne - have such a habit with chocolate - decided it was prudent to give the alcohol a wide berth. This may shock you but when I was VERY fit in my 20's I used to eat between 8-11 bars a day. Got that down to about 4 and now it can be anywhere between 1 and 4 topped up by hotchocolate - think I need some help here.

;)

crisps = chips over here....dont ask

Pretty good selection, as long as you dont want a vaguely healthy sized bag, its huge or huger....
Still no Prawn Cocktail either which is shocking!
Have to go to the english shop and pay through the roof when you get a craving. :D

Enough to munch chocolate bars with :D

Joking aside - my UK dentist told me that chocolate - as in plain chocolate was actually better than sweets or other junk because it falls away from the teeth! Just another useless piece of info courtesy of moi.

Oh boy, you sound like t'otherhalf... but he mixes his addictions with alcohol too. There's no hope for him :D

Lynne :)
