Because you have to pay royalties to the UK for the priveledge of eating their branded chocolate Down Under (apparently). That's why I moved to the UK - for the cheap chocolate. Trouble is, it's so cheap here that you can afford to eat it all the time!

"Mystify, mystify me". I was in Oz a few months back and I can't say I noticed any difference in the price of chocolate between the 2 countries to tell you the truth. A horrid bar of Tesco own brand chocolate will set you back 49p. If you like really good chocolate try:

Aldi have excellent continental chocolate at good prices in both UK and Oz if you don't want to pay the premium for a well known brand, they also sell Toblerone, Ritter etc.

I buy chocolate once a week, when I go shopping and the kids have to make do with what was on special ie., 99c bars which are usually mars, turkish delight, twix and sometimes bounty.
haven't eaten that much chocolate really apart from the bloody tim tams that I keep in the fridge
