How about not saying anything. Then when they come round to inspect take off his collar, let him loose and then look very concerned, scratching your head, and figure out what to do about this stray dog that has just turned up.:D

Rentals here have regular inspections (6 monthly?) but they let you know some time in advance. Just remove all dog-evidence when an inspection is due.

On moving out you also have to prove the carpets have been cleaned professionsally so dog-hair and smell should not be an issue then.

Not that I'm encouraging you to lie. Just not to tell the truth.

Don't get anti bark collars that small. At least I haven't found one!! A shame because her pitch of bark can break glass!!

The agent was pretty hot with inspections to begin with but then eased off when he saw that we looked after the house.

I'd say be truthful.

I agree - I wouldnt lie because that will be seen less favourably than the pet in the first place.

They have a "bad tenant" register here and you might find yourself listed on that pretty quickly if you are caught in the lie.

Personally, I think finding a rental is ridiculously hard anyway...pets dont even come into half the time because its so hard int he first place.

You will be fine.

I have found in the past that - as you generally cannot take the dogs to meet anyone - it sometimes helps to include a picture of your super friendly looking loving family dog lol.

I dont know if that will help here but it helped us get one of our houses in NZ...I included a photo of my kids down at the river lookign all friendly an dhappy lol

Karate is a bit soft, and "mental" is too unpredictable. You definitely need nutty boxers.

Great dogs actually. An ex had one, I loved him. She was a psycho though!

Alternatively, any good recipes I could use her for?

Mmm not sure about dogs, but when we were looking for flats in Sydney, there were about 2 in every 100 flats that allowed for pets and the ones that did looked like they should be condemned. So we lied. We have two cats (house) But dont tell anyone. Seems down under are just not as tolerent as in the UK, which on one hand is understandable, as i know pets can cause damage, but so can humans. I think its a bit more acceptable that people in London/uk may likely take up a contract for some years and so it really needs to be a home for them, so its more agreable. Mind you I dont know why this would be diff in Oz.
The whole rental market is so much more behind and not as flexible as it is in the UK. still there are always plus sides.
