Debs, in Brisbane in our area it seems to take about 3-4 weeks to find a rental, so you're pretty right. People have commented that its hard to find something decent, it usually takes them at least that long especially if they want a specific area. So in that 3-4 weeks you can get your bearings, decide which suburb you want to live in & then find your rental.
Most people that stay with us dont wait until their furniture arrives (unlike Lynn's mob in Perth) & usually just buy/borrow stuff to get them by. As Lynn said, it depends on the family & what you need/expect, its different for everyone .

We are actually looking at wellington point, manly, scarborough areas, all sound fab with a lot of good feedback.
no young kids to think about just big ones including the husband
