Furnished is few and far between.
Get unfurnished, rent white goods from Radio Rentals, buy an outdoor table and chairs to use inside, go to IKEA for basics.
http://www.domain.com.au/?s_cid=4304 is good for searches.
Search this forum for other rental threads as there are loads.

There is a website www.realestate.com.au that deals in property rentals and sales. When we were in Perth we were told 3-6 months in permanent employment before you would get a mortgage but it does depend how much of a deposit you've got apparently. If you can come up with 30% someone will give you a mortgage might just be slightly higher interest. Good luck

There is a list or rental websites here:
http://www.yellabrickroad.com/propertyrent.html
There is also a list of short term let links on the same site if you are looking for something shorter.

This was meant to be short term for us but we have ended up staying for a long time now the way things have worked out. I don't think they have anything so far south as Frankston, but worth a look anyway.
The advantage is you only need to give 2 weeks notice once you find a job/where you want to live etc. Relatively cheap too.
