Default Removals question

We are a long way off with our move to Oz but would like a bit of info.
We moved last August and still have items in boxes that we haven't unpacked yet. These are mainly books and old vinyl records (yes remember those) that we don't have any room at the moment to put them.
We want to keep these and take them with us when we eventually go.
Anyway the big question is do the removal company repack them into their own boxes or do they just keep them in what they are in?

Thanks

Graham

The first question would be, especially if you have moved once already - how good are the boxes? If they are full of books and records I would suggest that you need export-quality (they are double strength) as they will be heavy. One move already will have weakened the boxes, so be careful.

Crown told us they'd re-pack them, I think they need to verify the contents as they have to fill in the customs declaration forms.

Hi Graham

Ive also been told that if you dont let the removals men pack all your boxes, the boxes that you packed yourself wont be insured.
Ive had 3 quotes now from 750 cubic feet, 900 and 1120 cubic feet...I reckon its a mega guessing game!

... and the Customs and AQIS folks will see the boxes as "Packed by Owner" and may take a closer interest in your shipment.
