Registering a car from the UK
Back in 2004, on a recce trip I bought two cars ready for collection when we arrived - this didn't cause any problems with insurance or registration etc even though I didn't have a permament address.
This time, I've just bought a car ready for us to collect on arrival and the dealer are having issues registering the car in my name as I don't have a permanent address in Australia, just a booking in a hotel for a couple of weeks while we look for a rental property.
Did anyone else run into this problem? If so, what was the way around it?
Thanks
PS Rational for buying, is that if I rent a car for 2 weeks, that's 400-500 pounds off the budget for a new car - which obviously prefer to spend on something I will keep.

Its been registered to my name, the resort we are staying at confirmed the booking and that was enough to register it...

Car was waiting at the airport.
Saved us money on rentals, but just as important, we didnt have to traipse around dealers for 2-3 days with two kids in tow before we found a car that suited us.
