Right they have said we can have it sprayed, but the firm that they have chosen can't fit us in until Tuesday when we complained to the estate agents they basically said tough, they said that he was under no obligation to get it done and he was doing it as a favour.

We said but we've found someone who will do it today, they said no he's made his choice and that's who'll be doing it unless you want to pay yourself.

I worked in Melbourne for 5 weeks last year and didn't even think about spiders and snakes. Now I've read this thread you lot are starting to give me the sh*ts

No of course not, life throws shit at you where ever you are, if we had built in the UK and rented while being unemployed it would have been just as bad.

It's a major upheaval, kids are around us 24/7 we haven't got money to do money things.

We've been here 3 months and only had a few days out, it's tough but no tougher than I expected it to be having known before we left what the work situation was going to be.

So no regrets here

ah thats great to hear I'm sure a lot of peeps would want to throw the towel in with all the shit you've had, in such a short time. Just shows how comitted and strong you all are and one day you will look back and laugh at all this

Would be nice to be able to start enjoying it here. We were looking at houses within hours of landing.

We maybe should have had a week to enjoy ourselves on arrival but having been here three times before we'd already done that so wanted to get stuck in so to speak.

The house has been sprayed, already found quite a few dead redbacks, one right under the metal pull out washing line, must have been living in there

Bees kill dozens of people every year in Aussie, I honestly cannot remember the last time a red back killed anyone. Also given a choice, between spider bites, the last thing you want biting you is a white tail spider, here in Vic. Generally red backs live outside, and white tails try to live in amongst clothing, linen
etc etc. Sure the red backs look threatening and unpleasant, but your average bee is far more dangerous.

Sometimes people are too "pommy" in their perspective.
