Quick question - how do the Aussies go about recycling their household waste? Do you they have recycle bins in a public area like us?

slight variation per council - we have a smaller bin for general rubbish collected every week. Then 3 larger bins collected every fortnight (1 for paper, one for glass, tin, plastic, one for garden rubbish).
The every so often if you have finished with, say a chair, bed, toys, you put it out on the nature strip and people will help themselves to it, or will be picked up by council collections - AFAIK it cost to dump stuff at the tip.

We have our rubbish bin emptied every week and one wheelie bin for all recycling that is collected fortnightly.

We have three bins - general rubbish, glass/plastic/tin recycling and paper and cardboard recycling. They're all collected once a week, but I think that's because we're in a complex.

It works out quite well but they have relatively few recycling bins and they are always overflowing whereas there's loads more ribbish bins that are empty, which I find a bit frustrating!
