Hi all, anyone know any good IT agencies in Melbourne? My background is in PM (Prince2), Svc Delivery Mgmt (Masters Degree & ITIL) & Change Mgmt (ITIL).

Have applied for various roles via Jobserve, Paxus, etc but rarely receive any response and on a couple of occassions or told not to bother until I'm in the country. (end Nov).

The move's getting close now and whilst my OH has work at the Alfred a couple of nibbles for me would ease my nerves a little!!

As for not getting any replies, that is nothing unusual for employers or agencies. Also most may require immediate start in the position or very soon after applications close, so they may not hold the position open intil you arrive.

They won't speak to you until you arrive. I was told its too much hassle for them. They already have heaps of people who can do the job in the country so why look outside it?

I would of thought there would be plenty of call for someone with your skillset, the main number there is 03 8695 1800.
Even if you only get commitment to an internal interview with them for when you arrive its a start.

I had exactly the same experience before I arrived in Brisbane.

Once I was here I was inundated with offers of interviews and my mobile has never been so active.

Realistically, it's quite rare for someone to secure work whilst not in-country. I know of one member who managed it but this was because he met an old boss in a supermarket car park who told him his company had just set up in Brisbane and offered him a position.

Verossity in Brisbane are very good as are Finite.

I'm a PM working in Melbourne. You'll probably need to be already in Melbourne to secure a job in Melbourne. When here, apply online and be ready to do a follow up chase call to teh agent about 1/2 to 1 day later ready with a 'sales pitch'. You'll be called in for an 'arms and legs' interview at the agency before they'll fight for you.

The market for PM work has picked up nicely over the year, mostly in the fixed priced consultancy/third party vendor market.
