I'll echo the comments on John Mason and Kent. We had a full 20footer that looked as if it was going to 'bust' at one point. The guys wouldn't commit to it all fitting, but it did exactly. My only adverse comment - they were a bit over zealous - all of my shoes and our camcorder were packed even though we put them to one side.

Looks like any shipping is a gamble. Some get lucky - some don't.

What I am really interested in knowing is how many people shipped using a part-container and were still happy and received all their things, at the other end?

I'm having nightmares that our part-shipment will cause things to go "astray" in their warehouse?

Just make sure your good at making tea, and are aware of your local cafe.

A few pics from the day we left.

Was that a real dog sat underneath the microwave???? and if so was it waiting to get packed or was that their guard dog????
My god you had loads of stuff, did you take a full container?
Can I be cheeky and ask how much you paid. I am getting them out to quote for me
Thanks Mandy

Cheers.
We used them in January and they were great. Bit more expensive, but we did not have one breakage when everything arrived - not a scratch on a thing actually! The packers were a great bunch of lads too and packed everything with intricate detail and it was all packed up really well. I would recommend them above all the other eejits who came to my house to quote!

There is, however, a thread on here about a bad experience with them so you may want to read that one too!

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what price did you get them to for a 20ft container? We're currently waiting for them to get back to us with a quote, and it'd be interesting to see how different/similar the price starts at!

We used them back in October and found them to be very effecient and professional. Kent removals at this end were a bit slack but it all turned out OK in the end. I would recommended them at the end of the day.

We 85% filled the 2nd container (1st wasn't anything to do with us). We paid the goin rate of £3,750 door to door.

You know I've just read the other thread about the probs they've had with JM, but I'm sticking with the fact that I (plus others I know) got an EXCELLENT service with JM.

Our stuff took 7.5 weeks to get from Herts to the Gold Coast and this included AQIS pulling our container to one side and opening over half of the boxes!!

Can't fault to be honest.

That's a 20' 'reefer' container which we was told is slightly smaller than a normal one because of the refrigeration stuff. The driver said there was soooo many people leaving the country the shipping companies were having to use these for household goods, altho not switched on ...

Yeah they box everything really well and those pics were took just before it all went in.

One last pic, and this was the container minus a few bits. As I say we didn't fill it, but about 85% by the time the last few bits were thrown in!

This has been advised on this thread already:

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showp...7&postcount=17

But to be perfectly honest there will always be bad apples!

The general consensus of John Mason on here is that they ARE a good company. I'm really sorry for all the agg you've had with them, but at the same time I will continue to report MY findings, which cannot be faulted!

Sorry to hear about your experience with JM. It's a case of pure bad luck I guess. I received first class service from John Masons and I can't recommend them enough.
