Bear in mind "super", though. (Superannuation... not sure what it covers, is that like National Insurance and state pension contributions combined?) Salaries might be quoted inclusive or exclusive of super, and since it's, um, 10-ish%? it can make a big difference! (I'm sure lots of people who are actually already employed in Oz can clear up my uncertainty here!)

Superannuation = Pension only. Medicare contribution is seperate. Employers have to pay 9% of your gross salary into a Super Fund for you. You're quite right - some salary figures include the 9% and some don't, so it's wise to check.
