Any comments on looking into other areas of OZ, compared with Brissie and Queensland in general

I reckon each state is a like a countyr in its own right.
You'll have to go and have a look.
SA's got water issues and probs with the Murray
I like Vic.
I like Syd but not all parts of NSW It's so vast Aus that it's hard to say.

Yeah, Monty's Mom is right: you really need to go see.

Also, it's worth making a list of the things your family does now and wouldn't want to give up (eg theater trips, birdwatching), and the things you'd like to do (eg learning to sail), and compare how these would work in the places you're considering.

I've spent time in ACT, NSW & VIC and, on balance, feel more at home in the latter - good thing, as that's where we're going!

I think the isolation is something to bear in mind.

all the major cities in QLD/SA/VIC have a great cafe society and a degree of night life, but beyond that in the wilds you cannot compare country life with anything back home in the country at all.
