queensland school enrolments
hi we are hopefully emigrating to queensland next year and were wondering what the situation was like with schools. we have two children 4 and 8. would they be likely to be excepted into most schools, and would they be able to start school straight away? we were looking at sunshine or gold coast areas. thanks

Re: queensland school enrolments
Hi, We are heading to Brisbane in July and have already received acknowledgement from the Queensland Education department to sa we can enrl our 2 boys (12 and 10).
We have been told that when we land we need to go to the local schools where we are going to be living to get them enroled, subject to them having places, although there seem to be lots of places available, depending on the school you want.
We have done research on the Queenland Education website, and asked lots of luvverly people on here for their opinions on schools, so have managed to wittle it down to 3 scools before we go next month to look around.
Good luck with the process.......

we dealt direct with the school and both our lads aged 11 and 16 have got a place. They have an induction interview 2days before they actually start.

Back to the OP some schools have catchment areas some don't. Private schools and church schools might have to put your children on a waiting list but generally speaking if you move to an area the school there is honour bound to give your child a place.

We are going to Cleveland/Thornlands which is South East of Brisbane. Have had some excellent feedback from here, and have a friend who moved there last year, so initially we are going there on recommendation and then we will make our own minds up.
Cleveland High school, and primary have had some excellent feedback from other expats, so we are going to aim around that area. We have 2 sons (12 & 10) so schools are really important to us, not that any other ages are less important(!).
