We brought Maytag washer and a drier with us but the drier needs a 30 amp fused feed so we haven't even bothered with that here - everything goes outside. The Maytag is great though - you can get loads in it doesn't care if you mix whites and coloureds (or is it just me who does that?) |

My Ariston was from HM, and it had a 1200rpm spin cycle. That was back in 2001. :) |

We were quite amazed that the extended warranty was only $99 as in the UK an extended warranty for 5 years on a washer dryer generally costs about the same as the machine as it is so likely to go wrong within that time.
Books however are one thing I've noticed seem a lot more expensive here and you don't get any warranty risks with them. Books seem expensive here, luckily I've found what is a real treasure of a second hand book shop in a market here. Good quality, good price, ie 5-10 bucks for a reference book, hardback, 3-5 for a paperback. Getting the specials from K-Mart is another alternative. |

I was going to leave the washing machine at home
but she insisted on coming along with the kids |

Jo Did anyone take their vacuum cleaner? just that when we got a shipping co round to give a quote, the guy suggested NOT to take the vac, because anything that would be considered as 'dirt' wouldn't get through customs,(well without a clean which we would have to pay for) he said if we were to buy a new one, then we would be open to excise duty? Has anyone brought their dishwasher, thats a ppossibility for us as its the only freestanding thing we have in our kitchen. (accept me!!) Thanks |

Wonder if we'd get it through if we cleaned it out with a toothbrush and a fine-tooth comb! |

Never went to the library in UK but the opening times here are really good, you can take 20 items out and keep them for four weeks. They also have magazines and DVDs. |
