If i want to deliver private tuition in French language; do i have to register. I am not a qualified teacher but someone who speaks and write French fluently.

In fact, i am already giving private tuition to a 10yr old child and i have been approached by one of her friend's mum for private tuition too. I am now wondering if this is allowed or not. If yes, would it be OK if say i place an advert in the shops calling for more interested persons.

If I were you I would get a working with children clearance in order to protect yourself although they aren't really worth the paper they are written on, you can just get the forms from the post office. I cannot see why you cannot advertise and tutor french as long as you don't claim to be a teacher and are honest about your qualifications when asked - you are just offering a private service based on your skills. I am sure lots of music tutors often have no formal qualifications.

I didn’t know one needed a clearance certificate to be able to work with children. I will look into it right now at the post office.
The fact that my new friends are aware that I have a French background made them decide sending their daughter to me to improve her level of French. Recently my hubby who is also not a teacher but a business management graduate was also contacted by one of his new mates who wanted to learn some basic words and sentences as they are hoping to go on holidays in France next summer.
So I was wondering if it’s allowed to offer and advertise privately my services as this can contribute towards my budget.
