Default TAFE/ARTC-???

Hi, my name is Ryan, I am a qualified electrician of 5 years, been doing it for 8 from Gloucester. Me, my partner Lynsey and daughter Charleigh (17months) are looking to migrate to auss. We have been in touch with an agency that deal with the visas, we have been quoted £4400 for the family to get us over on a skilled trades visa. I have been informed that i have to do a practical exam before i can come over. That's all i've been told, is this the ARTC i keep reading about?? If it is what is it? and what does it involve?? and what is the TAFE is this another training program?
Can anyone help me please????

the rules are just about to change mate as of the 1st sept you have to go down the vetessess route ( its a different examaining body to the tra )
see

http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...l/Migrant/TRA/

and read the links from option three = new skill assessment service

as per the £4400 if thats just the agent fees then you have to pay vetttesses and visa fees its well expensive == shop around

if you post your question re sparkies on the electrican s forum you`l get to meet a raft of people in the same boat as it were

The ARTC will have to be done much further on, when you actually arrive here. For the visa appliacation you need to do the new Vetassess assessments. Full details here: http://vetassess.com.au/index.cfm?menu=1.3a

The skills assessment (part 3 of the process) will give you a 'provisional' licence, which may get you a job as an assistant when you get here. To get a full licence you will need the ARTC ( http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...nresidents.htm ) and will need to pass the wiring rules exam in the state you are moving to. If you want to work on your own as a contractor, you'll also need to do a contractors course.

Shop around for an agent as £4400 sounds a little over the top. We were £3200 INCLUDING ALL FEES, meds, xrays, pc's, stat decs from solicitors, money to Oz government etc and all the other little bits i had to pay for. that was for 3 adults on the bn136 visa i hope this helps

Why bother with an agent at all. mine cost me 1300 quid all up. it was 6 years ago but nothings changed on the forms. there is nothing to the forms. just make sure you double check everything and you'll be right.

It'll probably be the new Vetassess assessments, so not sure if that will be easier or not!.

That will probably account for the difference in cost too as it's a lot more than the TRA.
