Default Private Health Care Insurance

Hi all,

Just seeing a recent posting regarding Medical Cover and Medicare, reminded me of a question I have, but thought I should post it under a new topic.

I've lived in OZ a couple of times now, and on each occasion registered for the reciprocal cover with Medicare. However my fiance and I are returning to Perth on the 6th of Aug for good (hopefully), and have decided that this time we will take out Private Health Cover.

I've found out some information from http://www.phiac.gov.au/insurenotsure/contents.htm , but last time I was in Perth I heard so many horror stories about health cover, I'm not sure which companies are good or bad.

Can anyone recommend a good Company to use? Would HBF be the best to use?

Thanks,

Susette

Go matilda (Alan Collet's site) recommend Australian Unity and I investigated them as against Medibank and they were far more competitive, The only other one which was any use for use (410 visa) was the BuPa associate one which charged like 3 raging bulls.

Susette,

It might be worth looking at the Aussie Consumers Association site at www.choice.com.au, although I believe you will have to pay to subscribe to their relevant factsheet.

If you would like an Australian Unity brochure and an indication of premiums please send me an email.

Best regards.
