Default Primary Schools Perth

Hi all,

We are moving to Ocean Reef next year and our youngest son will be due to start primary school then. We have tried to look for league tables etc on schools performance but to no avail. So we are hoping that some of you will have experience and info on primary schools in and around Ocean Reef ?

Thanks in advance.

Our friends who live in Kallaroo have their kids attend OR Primary ...

It's extremely good and we shall be making every effort to get our boys registered there too if we make the Northern burbs our home.

most primary schools in the Northern suburbs won't admit children unless they are resident within the school zone, you will have to provide them with either a contract to buy a property in the area or a lease for at least 6 months.

Ocean Reef has a good reputation but there are other equally as good.

I think that two Aussie states have league tables, but only for secondary schools - Victoria and Western Australia - but they are going to become much more common because the national Govt is going to require them if States want funding. There was some chance we were going to be posted to Perth so we looked into this in some detail - we found a site catering for Australian expats - www.exfin.com - had quite a good education introduction and links to all the state and what they call "independent" school systems/directories etc., etc.,

Of course I'm in !

Once a Blue always a Blue (unless you're surname is Rooney !)

Rumour has it that Rooney is on 50 GRANS a week!! sorry poor taste I know got this from Blue Kipper - I presume you know this site.

Anyway enough pointless banter - keep in touch and roll on West Brom..

Ocean Reef primary has a good reputation, most primary schools in Joondalup area are pretty good, probably due to intake and parental support.
SOR Harmony is worth having a look at, was speaking to one of the advanced teachers there and it is the first environmentally friendly school in WA, I think it is near Atwell.

My 3 are at OR primary. They LOVE it there. We took them out for three terms to send them to an expensive private school - total waste of money, we all hated it.

I've never seen them happier than the morning they returned to OR primary.

Don't compare it to UK schools though, you'll be disappointed, there are mixed age classes and they all plod along but the main thing I like about it is the feeling of community, the fun "musters" on Thursday mornings the other parents are really nice too.
