Default Preparing for Sydney

7 months and 2 weeks roughly to go till Sydney! Have been sticking my head in the sand so far. Now have been logging on to this site and have now pulled my head out of said sand.
What have I got to start thinking about, any advice chaps and chapesses?
Going for reckie in March.

Hi Swaffy

What sort of advice are you looking for - any areas of concern?

I'll help if I can.

You will get here in August which is the last month of winter and the antarctic winds can feel chilly so bring some jumpers. It is also a good time to arrive because you can rush about house hunting and job hunting easily in the cooler weather. You will acclimatise easier than someone who would arrive in January.

Hope you are prepared for the house prices unless you do not mind living in a mindless boring Mc Mansion estate way out west. To me the choice is North Shore versus Eastern Suburbs.

Give us an idea of your job and cash available for housing and we can help you a bit more.

Other than that Sydney is a fantastic city to live in and most people I know enjoy living here.

Depending on what we get for our pad we will be looking at taking over around £150, to £170,000. Take out mortgage at a guess £100,000. I agree about north verses east.

Must do some invoicing now, will write more 2morrow

Thanks again for replying

North Shore housing starts at $700,000. Eastern burbs probably $800,000 .

A decent 2 bedroom unit is about $500,000 .

They don't come bigger than this:

As to nice preferred living places, don't overlook the inner west. There are pockets of gentrification there.

And for something more modern around the Olympic site (Newington) but that's effectively inner west too.

Bloody hell ! Looks like I will have to get a part-time job as well. There goes the relaxed Aussie lifestyle and free time I was planning on

How many sq feet approx do I get for this king's ransom ?

Stupid question coming up....does this include a sea view ?
