THE PREMIERSHIP IN OZ! Footy mad :o)
I'm really going to miss the footy in Oz.....
...................or will I?
I've been thinking about time differences and I reckon that a Saturday afternoon kickoff (not that there is many now!) will be late Saturday night in Sydney/into the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 4o'clock Sunday afternoon games will be a definite no-goer as surely we'll all be in bed sleeping ready for Monday morning!
Do people watch live Premiership games in Oz? Do crowds gather late night in pubs to watch games? Or, does everyone stick to the Monday evening highlights?

I'm OK cos I have a backpackers hostel and there is always some Pom wanting to stay up and watch so we a pop a sign up and get a bit of middle of the night atmosphere goin on if it is a big match and a few people have shown an interest.

No
No
No
The footy we follow over here in order is:
Aussie Rules
Rugby League
Soccer
Rugby Union
The premiership is shown on Fox and SBS i think. Try the 2nd sport on my list, Im sure it will be a perfect replacment.

Not 100% sure but I can guarantee that you will see more live premiership games here than you ever would in the UK.

So long as my hubby is not deprived of his football he will be a happy chappy down under. Yesterday he was talking about where he will be able to view the World Cup games next year !

Sounds like a plan..
As long as I don't miss any Premiership footy, I'll be happy!
PS - Thanks for the replies, but forget that bloody Rugby League idea! Premiership is where it's at

Fox sports generally show 3 games (12.45 pm, 15.00 pm, 17.15 pm English KO times) on a Saturday night/Sunday morning, 2 more on a Sunday night/Monday morning and if there is a Monday night game in Engalnd you have to get up early Tuesday morning.
SBS had the rights last season to show 1 live game, but this season blew the budget on the Olympics and covering the Ashes series (Cricket) in England.
You also get a couple of Champions league matches shown live on SBS on the weeks the Champions league games are played.
ESPN also show champions league, FA cup, and International friendlies.
So you don't miss out on your your football here as long as you don't mind getting up/staying up.
Will.
