PR=Permanent Residency
@Sue This poll is intended to find out how the people see foreigners coming to Australia. Julia Gillard is a foreigner herself. @steve`o 2 thumbs up! Yes, I am an immigrant myself. And I entered Australia after getting PR (offshore application). And a very premature conclusion of what my intentions are. @hollykimalan Wow! People googling my handle. I am in the limelight now! @Zambia Another premature comment. In life, there is always a victim. The reason you have a job is the exact reason why another person is unemployed. @mandymcqueen Yes. And now I have proved you are wrong. :P And now, my story... I moved here on PR visa last year. The reason I left my country to sell my skills to another country was because I wanted a better standard of living. More and more people are arriving here (as refugees, migrants, students who have the intention of applying for PR on fake professions, the list continues) but I don't see any comparative expansion in infrastructure. The transport system is getting chaotic and soon other things will follow. It seems things are getting exactly similar to my country of origin, where the same problems exist, the reason I left. As long as there is enough resources to support the increasing number of people, I would vote yes for PR. Also, I have come across many unqualified people who somehow managed to get PR, they don't deserve it. If they can't contribute, they are worse than cancer in the society. Lastly, what I would like to say is, the rules for getting PR is exploitable, and many unqualified people are exploiting these to get an entry. And this really pisses me off. Rules should be made more stringent and more background checks should be made. |

Rules should be made more stringent and more background checks should be made. It took me three years, a load of cash and a handfull of hoops to jump through to get my PR. And why are you so angry about it? Would you have exploited it if needed to get your 'foot in the door'? I would have |

So how about we take away the PR of anyone who arrived within the last 2 years? That would solve some of the problems.

Re: PR should be stopped!
I think the poll's suggestion is outrageous and silly. Lots of people live on Puerto Rico. What are they going to do if we stop PR? And where is Bacardi going to come from?

Interesting... HKA Did you find a large variety of exotic hand-crafted leather pre-wrapped golf grips and golf head covers? :lol: |

No way I would go, "No its ok, I have gone all this way through the process and yes you are right, my IELTS score was too low (complete as you see fit!!), I give up unreservedly and will discontinue this...oh....what....If I do what I can get PR?? How dare you sir, I am British and I play by the rules and ...where are all those people in that queue going????" |
