I am quite new on this forum so hello to you all.

A bit of background:

DH is in IT - his ACS Skills Assessment is with our Migration Consultant and due to be lodged shortly. We have a problem with lodging our 136 Visa Application though because my husband took 8 months off work, so no doesnt meet the 12 months experience in nominated profession in the last 18 months.

So (if you haven't fall asleep yet) we have two choices:

Either wait till he does meet the requirement i.e. apply in Aug 06 (and hope that his contract in South Africa is renewed)

or

Try to find a job in Australia which will sponsor a 457 Visa.

Is there anybody out there who has found a job before getting a visa?

Is there nobody out there who has managed this. I was really hoping that it would be possible.

We hope to go to Melbourne - can anbody recommended Recruitment Consultants in this neck of the woods?

Apparently the IT job market aint great in Oz at the moment, so unless he has highly desired skills in IT, then I'd be surprised if you'd get a company willing to sponsor, there are just too many IT people already in Oz for them to choose from.
