Police ban booze after mass brawl (II)
Police temporarily banned alcohol sales in a remote Australian town after a street brawl involving 300 people.
The fight broke out in the main street of Meekatharra, in Western Australia, after a local youth was assaulted, reports the Herald Sun.
"It was a family feud and there were lots of issues from the past that were then brought up, hence why it got so volatile," a police spokeswoman said.
"Other family members then started coming in from other towns nearby and it got quite big."
Officers banned takeaway alcohol sales in a bid to avert further trouble as they battled to restore order. The ban has now been lifted.
No arrests had been made but detectives are continuing their investigations.

Ah, Meekatharra!
Small outback (mining?) town, a few hundred km's north of Perth on the Great Northern Highway.
Good place to drive through and not stop!
Actually, better avoid that highway altoghether, just take the Brand Highway(along the coast)!
