Hi me and my partner are emograting to Australia, my partner is doing his plumbing NVQ here before we go. Does he need to do another course once we get out there to work as a plumber? We are going on my visa as a hairdresser. Also can he get CORGI registered out there?

Hi first of all he has to get a plumbers licence, Corgi dont mean naf all out there we are in the same boat my wife is a hairdresser and im a plumber good luck! if you do a search on plumbing all your answers will be there

HI, He will still have to do a course to get to aussie standards.
With the nvq he will get a temp. license so he can work for someone as supervised, but to work alone you need to do the course to get a full license. NSW my friend who is there (where im goin too if i can sell the house.........!!) did one day a week for a year and now fully licensed, so i think he'll get me work til i get mine . different states different rules. Mate in QLD said he only has to do a correspondence course, not found out yet what that entails yet though...... wait for the gas and do when you get there, save your money. Where you going?

Have a look here if you haven't already. It's plumbing all over the world but there are many many threads about plumbing in various states in Aus.

Not sure if things have changed but in Perth I had to prove at least 4 years working experience to get Trades Licence - not just NVQ qualified. Maybe other states are different but sure its the work experience they are looking for.
My licence 'test' was a one day course piece of cake - only thing get some practice in on oxy torch - I had never used one and had to get examiner to show me!!!
Don't want to put you on a downer if anyone knows different please say!
