Play station + worried Bloke!
Hi guys,
Question from the Bloke who is packing for a trip to the UK - can't find the answer on here, so can anyone help. (far too technical for me!)
He has an Oz play station 1, with games on it bought in Oz. If he brings the games to the UK, can he play them on my nephew's UK play station 1? He also says he has a memory card for some of them - will that also work on a UK machine?
Any replies gratefully received!

I've just made a phonecall for you and the answer is 'no', I'm afraid. His games would only work if your playstation is 'chipped'. The discs are coded in a similar way to the DVD 'regioning'. The only way would be for him to bring his playstation as well.
Can't understand why he's coming all this way just to sit infront of a playstation though.
Hope this helps.
Steve.

Pollyanna
Last year we went to Oz on holiday and bought Playstation games over there and bought them back and they worked.
We've also taken games over & played them on my brothers playstation (just for the kids you understand!!) and they also worked.
If its a PAL format it should be OK, though I've just checked the precautions and it does say it cannot be used on any foreign specification of the playstation.
If he's got space, bring em!!

Thanks guys, could be pot luck then!
I think I'll tell him to bring a couple and hope for the best, though they might not work. I can't see how he thinks he's going to get a chance to play them anyway but I think he wants to teach my nephew to drive racing cars or something! Little does he know that it could end up being my nephew teaching him to play Crash Bandicoot or whatever his latest craze is!
I'll just have to keep him so busy he won't miss his race games.

Thanks Gra, should keep him happy him if he thinks he can race his cars!
You spotted my tetris score? Worked hard for that - I am determined to get top, only problem is I used up all the available lines! Could have kept going longer otherwise. Rats!!!

while we're on this subject,
I brought my PS1 over from the UK to have here in Oz. But I can't get it to work with the Oz TV. Do I need a converter or something? Does anyone know, or has anyone had this problem?
Thanks!
