Sunshine Coast is desperate for hangers and setters the firm we use has had to give away two major builders due to lack of available blokes. Same story further North there's a general lack of both hangers & setters. We're being held up all the time as the same firm can't get any cornice blokes either.
If he's a solid plasterer there's a lot of work up around Mackay a couple of lads I know have just gone up there on long term contracts.

thanks for reply, yes he is a solid plasterer, also a fibrous plasterer. At moment he is a plastering lecturer. Do you know what the pay scale would be for either solid/fibrous plasterer and which would be the best one to choose. Thanks lisa

Tough decision, I'd go for an inside trade: gyprock hanger or setter. This would be purely on a stay out of the sun basis. Qld sun is a killer, it's nice for a couple of weeks holiday but working in it everyday is not my idea of fun. The brickies I know all look 10 yrs older than they actually are and have all had melanomas removed.
Award wages can be found here

Read a few of Robert Cowans very informative threads, he's a plasterer living down in Victoria. I'm not sure about licencing requirements down there but up here it's run by the QBSA

Hi Snowflake
my hubby is a solid plasterer, not a tape & jointer (bad plasterer!!!). I have sent you a private message as his boss is always looking for decent solid/fibrous plasterer.
