My son is 18 and wants to go to Wellington for part of his gap year - (he has made lots of friends OL through a forum about "The Ladds") Anyway I've told him to join this forum and start asking questions!!
But I'll start for him and ask if anyone can tell me if there is cheap accomodation there,
is it safe?( playing protective mum here!)
and how much roughly would a gap yr student expect to spend on basics?
Thanks

....To add to my last post, I was told that these are also sheltered from the cold southerlies which is important. The warm northerlies should be fine. Any other places well sheltered??

welcome to your son.... and tell him he might want to try this forum as well http://www.backpackerboard.co.nz/forum/index.php - not technically gap year, but much might be applicable, especially to his age group.
