+00-44- and then the number (without the leading zero in the area code)

the reason for this is because if you were calling abroad from England, you would put 00 in front of the country code, whereas in Australia you would put 0011 in front of the country code.
So 00 44 from Aus wouldn't work, it's 0011 44 (and then take the 0 from the code so central London is 0011 44 20 7xxx xxxx

And if your with Telstra Homeline Plus (or whatever its called), then its 0018 44 etc, this gets you up to an hour for $5.25.
