Default phoning in oz

Hi all

Boring question but does anyone know if you can use your pay as you go phones in oz. I'm with tmobile and hubby with virgin. I've looked on websites and it looks like you can as long as the phone is compatible with the local satelites or something?!! We have nokia 3310's - trouble is its all automated voicemails, or websites so you don't actually get to ask real questions to real people!

Paul is going up to Sydney for a few days whilst I stay in Melbourne so it would be handy to be a ble to keep in touch.

Any advice/knowledge on this matter would be helpful

Cheers

Kerry

I just went into the orange shop and they set it up for roaming, it worked fine.

I have a pay as you go nokia and was told that as it was unlocked (and they proved it by using another sim card to show me) I could buy a sim card in australia and continue pay as you go on their rates

Had a Virgin mobile in UK, brought it over and got a new Virgin pay as you go SIM for it over here. No problems. You will need an Oz address and ID.

It was PAYG.
Once I'd used up the credits I threw the sim away and got a Telstra contract. I bought the phone about a month before leaving the UK and it was unlocked (so I payed extra for it).
