Petrol / Diesel

Re: Petrol / Diesel
The i30 diesel is a fantastic vehicle for the money - friends have one and they love it.
The Passat is great - especially the CC. Way too expensive though. To be honest, the Jetta is almost as good as the Passat saloon - for a lot less money.

Re: Petrol / Diesel
Hyundai i30 Diesel. 1600 cc. 4.8/100 ks on a run. At worst 5.5 with the aircon on full belt. Top speed 230 kph! And I've had 210 on a test track with more pedal travel to go. If the quality of fuel improves (I'm told that it will, slowly) then better mpg will follow.
Someone did a test drive from Darwin to Adelaide and returned 3.9/100
Heavier engine over driving wheels at front gives very good handling.
Lots of rear leg room too.
No, I don't work for Hyundai.
Obviously the fuel consumption goes up a bit at 210 kph.

Re: Petrol / Diesel
I always drove a diesel in the UK, and even then I was putting £250 per month into the car - a 1.7 litre. Here I drive a petrol 2.0 litre and use it much less - maybe $20 per month. The public transport is much better, is why.
