Actually we went 2 weeks ago and it was fantastic, this week bloody awful.

It was too busy, waiters didn't know what they were doing so everything seemed a mess. But it has a great reputation.

I missed Kulcha off my list, surely the most inconsistent restaurant in WA. Fantastic one night utter garbage the next visit, I think we have been 6 times so far (friends like it so we tend to go with them) 3 times superb 3 times utter garbage. (same dishes more or less)

I'll hazard a guess and say that you're referring to the Plantation Estate. Am I right? :)

The PE is a personal favourite. Fantastic food - and as you say, a great view. Definitely a "must visit" if you're ever in South Perth.

I'm absolutely useless at remembering names but better half says it's "The Bell House". Another good one is "The Royal Brasserie" East Perth (Royal Street I beleive),great views and fantastic Mutton Shanks.

the Royal Brasserie is under new ownership and is reputed to be better than ever and I know the owners, lovely folks.

Chinese : Yu Restaurant in Burswood is excellent,

Steak: Victoria Station in Burswood

Then there Coco's. First class food, spectacular views, yes pricey, but to me worth every penny when I go. Try it for Sunday lunch.Very special.

Jacksons is also very good, but there is a waiting list, generally about four to six weeks wait.Try the tasting menu. Different glass of wine for each course.

The Bellhouse is opposite Coco's ,on the peir. Not bad food.

Ciccerellos is very good I believe.

Bistro 38 is not bad. Do a Tapas menu.

Hi,

Balthazar on the Esplanade - top end contemporary food, good vegetarian options with excellent wine list.
Cape Lodge Restaurant near Margaret river if you are really pushing the boat out (they will do a degustation menu and vegetarian same with wine tasting menu too).
Noi - East Perth - family run Italian, high quality by Claisebrook Cove.
Maya - great Indian in Freo.
Pizza Bella Roma on South Terrace Freo - slightly touristy but actually very good quality food and wine.
Lastly, I must mention the John Street Cafe in Cotteloe and Analakshmi near the Bell Tower because they are both excellent (the latter is purely vegetarian and has a lovely atmosphere).

I'm not advertising here but we did find a great book called Paul eats Perth isbn 0-9757841-0-2. You might find it useful.

We are looking forward to getting back over there again to try a few more!

Best regards,

Marcus.
