Perth - something to eat

We have been here a few years now and go around the same old eating haunts. We have just been to the Hippo Creek African Grill in Scarborough which I think is fantastic for a steak lover.

What I was after were any ideas of that special occasion restaurant, or a place that does something really fantastic.

I have one thing to recommend - Trigg Beach Cafe does one of the best Lemon Merrangue Pies around, even if it is $10 a pop.

If you are in Kallaroo I think the food at the Mullaloo beach hotel is pretty nice. Also Bistro 38 at Joondalup resort has nice food too.

The Blue Duck Café in Cotts (really a sort of café/restaurant).

Terrific food, and a great atmosphere.

:)

Try one of the many wineries out in the Swan Valley, they are all guaranteed to please:)

This is not a special occasion type restaurant, but the best and most reasonably priced Chinese I have had in Perth is at the Sing Garden restaurant at Padbury shopping centre. It is run by a lovely couple from Hong Kong. It is often full of British ex-pats. Our family have been going for years. I will happily drive 15 mins to pick up some takeaway!

Sitting on a cold wet night in Glasgow, Scotland and I can visualise myself in the Blue Duck Cafe with a bottle of sparkly.

Even picked out my food.

Will definately pay it a visit when we arrive in June.

Have had a few nice lunches at the Blue Duck. One of the first places I think of when I think of Perth. Will be one of my first stops when I go back.
This is where I had my wedding reception, another beautiful setting :

Not sure of the name but the restaurant adjacent to the ferry jetty on the south side of Perth. Fantastic food and great views of a night, looking at Perth glistening away.

Apart from Mindarie Keys (The Boat food is very average / limited in choice and Indian Ocean Brewery tiny portions but great setting for both) I think you have to try very hard to have a bad meal in Perth.

The revolving C Restaurant comes highly recommended to me for a special occassion and one of the best meals / settings I have been to myself is the restaurant at Matilda Bay.

Cocos in South Perth is supposed to be excellent for sea food.

There are dozens of places in the Swan Valley at the wineries / breweries - Feral Brewery and Edgecombe Bros are a couple of our favourites.

Masala is the best Indian we have found (Ocean Keys). Kulcha is a favourite for a chinese especially after the night markets in Joondalup.

Cicerellos at Mandurah or Freo are the best F&C we have had.

I love the Atrium at the Burswood Casino :) ...lovely buffet, hot or cold...and it's nice sitting under the 'sails' which keep changing colour :D ...and the desserts are to die for ;) ...I also love Cicerellos.

I will start going through those, some I have been to and some not.

Anyone found a good Mexican?

I'll hazard a guess and say that you're referring to the Plantation Estate. Am I right? :)

The PE is a personal favourite. Fantastic food - and as you say, a great view. Definitely a "must visit" if you're ever in South Perth.
